Welcome to English2Work. This is my first post!

English is a rich language, full of ways to confuse learners, but also a great way to be able to communicate with people in many different corners of the planet.  It has not stopped evolving, with many new words being added to the dictionary every year.  Like many other languages, it is easy to get started and become able to communicate on holiday or with friends, but it takes time and effort to be able to speak fluently in more technical situations, and to understand the nuances when specific words are used in a context.  I am always impressed when I hear a non-native English speaker on the radio or TV speaking unaccented English, because I know how much effort that has taken.  It is helpful to students that there is so much English language video and audio content to listen to and learn from, but there are hopefully still times when a teacher can help with the rough edges.
